KAMERS & CCDI Trading at the Castle

KAMERS & CCDI: Trading at the Castle

5-8 June 2014, Cape Town

Part of the Official World Design Capital Cape Town 2014 Programme

KAMERS is excited to present a new exhibition as part of the World Design Capital Cape Town 2014.

KAMERS & CCDI: Trading at the Castle is a collaboration between KAMERS vol Geskenke, well-known creative pop-up event, and the Cape Craft and Design Institute (CCDI), sharing their passion for showcasing and developing local talent and design. A visual feast of creativity, entrepreneurship, music, food and designed wares will take place 5-8 June 2014. The Castle of Good Hope will host 110 design exhibitors with a very strong food and wine component. Being recognised as one of the official World Design Capital Cape Town 2014-projects, we have a distinct focus on innovation.

KAMERS is in its twelfth year of business, fully run by women and making a bigger impact in SA design and entrepreneurship each year. In 2013 KAMERS drew 41 600 visitors at three shows nationally, enjoying the creative showcase of 250 hand-picked local exhibitors. Besides design, a very strong component of the KAMERS experience is delicious food, wine and live music.

The KAMERS team is well known for their innovative selection of creative talent and fresh product ideas, to display work by independent design and craft creatives in the form of a large scale pop-up retail event. An important aspect of the shows is supporting and developing product with creatives and young entrepreneurs. They create a platform giving exhibitors maximum exposure for future business, thereby establishing their brands in the marketplace. The KAMERS experience also inspires visitors to explore their own creative potential.

Although 2014 is the first year KAMERS is partnering with the CCDI, they have enjoyed a close relationship in the past years. Collaborating with the CCDI has opened the doors to fantastic new suppliers never before seen at KAMERS and will make it a fresh and inspiring experience.

Seeing that the Castle of Good Hope is the original port of trade in the Cape, it is appropriate that KAMERS will complete the circle of design during WDC2014 by bringing trade back to this majestic historic site. The venue is truly something everyone has to experience for themselves.
