We are getting back in action after a wonderful holiday break, revitalised and motivated for the year ahead. Our passion to support local small businesses, entrepreneurs and creatives is burning brighter than ever and that is exactly what this post is about. While we are all busy planning the success of 2014, as a small business owner it will be useful to look at some interesting ways to get your product, your brand and your name out there in the world of online marketing this year.
Social media has proven to be a very successful (and fun) marketing channel for KAMERS and it has been fantastic to connect with you all on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and recently Instagram. Getting your business and hard work out there via social media might be a daunting task if you’re new to it all, but we have seen how rewarding it can be and have found a great workshop to help you get started.
Social Sessions is a two-day workshop currently running in Johannesburg, but will soon expand to Cape Town too. It is run by Candice Kropf of Social Ideas and Zoe Saayman of Zoe Inc – a social media brain and a digital design brain. They have teamed up to bring you experiential workshops that fuse these two branding and marketing disciplines in a simple and understandable way, so that you can use these elements in building your personal or business brand online.
The workshop teaches the basics of social media marketing, shows you how to create a social media strategy, the basics of digital design using Photoshop and how to design and create layouts, customised social media artwork and web banners. Knowing what to do in the social media world is one (big) thing, but being able to visually represent your brand in that space is an immediate boost for your business.
Zoe and Candice believe that as entrepreneurs and small business owners you simply cannot afford to pay ad agency prices for your communication and marketing, and that many people have “fallen off the technology wagon” and just don’t know where to start. We agree. They take the fear out of the unknown in a comfortable and friendly environment, with hands-on teaching and invaluable advice from personal experience.
The next workshop is on the 27th and 28th of February 2014 in Parkhurst, Johannesburg. As Kamers readers, you get a 10% discount on your ticket price if you book and pay by 5 February 2014! Simply purchase your ticket on their website and use the promo code “Kamers” to qualify for the discount price of R4 495.00 instead of R4 995.00.
They are also running a competition to give away a free ticket to one lucky winner. All you need to do is enter via their website and you will go into the draw to win. The closing date for the competition is the 24th of January 2014. There are also some options for bonus entries to the competition to increase your chances of winning.
